There are some who have complained of a lack of drive and urgency in the way that the Los Angeles Lakers have played their games so far during the current season. However not is not the time for self pity but a time for hard work in order to reverse the fortunes and ensure that they are within the top echelons of the sport for the future generations of NBA Basketball players. Their series scores are tied at two to two which means that they have to make a move or face oblivion in the vast sea of mediocre NBA Basketball teams. The best way to think about this situation is that they simply have to win their game if they harbor any realistic chances of winning the championship.
Why have they reached this stage of desperation when they had so many chances to make an impact? Something must have happened to the Lakers in order for them to let things slip within the current season. It is not a case of not having the opportunities to make an impact. In fact one can argue that they had too many opportunities. The problem is that when those opportunities came and went, they behaved as if the well would never dry up. It seemed at times that they believed that they could continue to win games even without putting in the right amount of effort. As the NBA Basketball series reaches a climax, the opportunities to turn it around will become fewer and fewer until they will eventually be lodged within the last chance hotel.
The managers have to change the strategy and look to motivate the teams towards greater things. It seems at times that the Lakers no longer care whether they win or lose and that is a very dangerous recipe for a team that is competing at the very highest levels of the sport. They really have to get their act together in order to have some chance of winning the NBA Basketball stakes in the long run. The short run is already lost.
